  1. My mother moved into the Residences three years ago after we experienced several care failures trying to allow her to remain in her own home. We spent many hours identifying and visiting small and large assisted living facilities. We were lucky to have the assistance of friends who specialize in the design and development of care and health facilities and were up to date on best practices. We visited over 20 sites and the Residences was the first place where we felt comfortable about having my mother’s individual needs met. Her cognitive decline makes it hard for her to adapt to new circumstances and schedules; some of these schedules such as eating and sleeping times have been in place for 20 – 30 years. The Residences was the only site that agreed that my mother could stay up later in the evening, and arise later in the morning requiring that breakfast be provided separately mid-morning for her. They also agreed that her sweet tooth could be attended to while continuing to watch her overall food intake to control her diabetes. Additionally there are many other small accommodations they make for her particular tastes and needs I am sure that these accommodations are made possible through the rich client caregiver ratio that is maintained at the Residences. Finally, and of vital importance is the loving care that is provided. There is frequent touching, lots of smiles, willingness to listen to stories and swift attention to requests such as a newspaper or assistance to the table. After three years we are just as pleased to have found the Residences as we were at the beginning.

  2. Deciding to place a loved one into a board and care facility is a very difficult decision. From the moment that I walked into The Residences at Antioch I knew that I had found the right place. My husband, Lawrence Worth Shaw, was very happy there. He thanked me every day for finding this facility. Not only was he given the care and comfort he needed, but my family and I, and all his friends felt welcome at all times. This all contributed to a peace of mind for all of us.

Words cannot tell you how much my family and I appreciated the compassion and support you and your staff gave Worth while he was in your care. It was such a comfort to us.

  4. My mother Anna was so blessed to live at The Residences at Antioch for 3 ½ years. Mom moved living there and having her beautiful room and she enjoyed the view of the beautiful backyard. She felt loved there and was so blessed to be so well cared for. We felt like we were part of the family also when we came to visit, we were always welcomed. We feel our Mom could not have had a better place to live out the rest of her life. The owners Nestor and Tess were like family to our Mom also. We enjoyed coming every year to the Christmas party that they put on for The Residence and families, also. Thank you so much, we miss all of you and I often think of the head caregiver Fely, and the others that cared for my mom. God Bless all of you for being part of my Mom’s life, we will never forget you.

  5. We just want to tell you how much we appreciate the loving care you all give the residents there. When we came there for the first time, and you showed us around… we had made up our minds in about five minutes. When we left, Roy asked me what I thought. I said I think we should bring our Dad here. Both Linda and Roy immediately agreed. And we have NEVER regretted that decision for a single moment. The flowers you sent to the Walnut Creek Hospital were beautiful and the cards helped us to keep going. And when you went to San Francisco to get the waiver, and you called Roy and said we could bring him back there, Roy called and told me. He doesn’t know this but after he hung up I sat and cried because we were going to be able to bring him back there. Leroy had mentioned a couple of times over the years he didn’t want to die in a hospital and due to your wonderful help, he didn’t have to. I know it was a lot of extra work, but you all didn’t hesitate, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will never forget you all, and will drop in for a visit occasionally. Love to you all,

Vi and the whole Ledford family (Antioch)
  6. Just a note to tell you how much it means to us to have had our parents in your care, we are so grateful to you both, and all your staff. You always went “above and Beyond” in answering the needs of Mom and Dad and us. I will always have memories of the great Christmas parties! Thank you so much!

  7. Over a year ago in November 2011 I began looking for a home where I could bring my father Wil to be cared for. He suffered from Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s. The moment I entered The Residences-Antioch, I felt such peace and calmness. I was immediately impressed with the ambiance as well as the cleanliness of the facility. I made the decision then and there that this was the home for my dad. The last year of Dad’s life was spent with a loving and caring family. I say family because that is what they became to me and Mom as well as my brothers. As Dad’s illnesses progressed, the care and attention he received was remarkable. Mom and I would often drop in unannounced and everything was always the same…wonderful! I cannot thank you all enough for your love and caring for my father and all of us. I continue to tell everyone about your wonderful home.

  8. I write this letter of reference in the spirit of gratitude because I am so grateful to have located your care facility, The Residences at Antioch. It’s been two years since my uncle has lived at The Residences and four years since he’s been in a stable environment that I was pleased with other than my home. The Residences at Antioch has shown exceptional care for my uncle and relieved me of several issues with respect to his care, doctor appointments, etc., which otherwise wouldn’t happen. For example, in other facilities he had been placed, they would call me for every little thing, doctor’s appointment, medication, mood swings, him not wanting to eat or talk, not that those things are not important, however The Residences at Antioch has been extremely proactive and very efficient in caring for my uncle. As a result of sharing in his care, I can maintain my life and sanity while providing care and love to my love one with a good attitude. I am thankful to have found Nestor, Tess and staff and The Residences at Antioch. Its more than a residence, it’s a home! Thanks Nestor and Tess for opening your home and lives to share with my love one.

  14. Thank you very much for the kind and warm care for my father-in-law. We, (Kelly & I) liked your place from the beginning. It was very fortunate for me to get to know you. I have learned a lot of things I never learned from school! Thank you so much for including us as part of your family. Now Nono was placed in Sonoma where he loved to go. Kelly and I still go to Brentwood so I promise we will stop by. Take care of yourselves and have a very happy new year! Much Love,

    Kelly & Suzue
  15. Dale and I sincerely appreciate all the effort you made to find mom someone to cut her toenails. Your many phone calls and networking led you to the podiatrist you took mom to yesterday. Dale was very impressed with how gentle and caring Dr. Osborne was with our mom, Emma Lou. Also, you and one of your staff provided a van and took mom to the doctor appointment, and we are grateful for that. We have been impressed with The Residences-Antioch since we brought mom to you and continue to appreciate all you do to keep mom in the best health possible and tenderly care for her. Thank you so much,

    Judy S (Rio Vista)
  16. Dear Nes, Tess, Fely, Mary et al, We want to say again how much we always appreciated the outstanding care you gave to our mother, Edith B.. We can never adequately express how grateful we are for your loving care and your kindness to her. We were happy she was able to spend her final years in such an immaculate, peaceful, well run and loving environment. If you ever would like a reference for a new patient, we would be pleased to respond. Our special thoughts go to Mary for her kindness and the many sleepless nights she spent so Edith didn’t fall. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if we can ever be of any assistance to you.

  17. From the very first time that we came to look at the home, which was unannounced, we were extremely impressed with the facility. The home was immaculate. The bedrooms and bathrooms were tastefully decorated, roomy, and provided easy handicap access. The other residents were dressed, clean, and appeared to be happy and quite comfortable. You and your staff were very willing to answer any question that we had. Within a very few minutes of walking into the house, we knew that we had found the perfect place for Florence to live while she rehabilitated. We were especially impressed with the personal touches that made such a difference in her care. A few examples of this were the “welcome home” balloons in her room, the home-made sign with her name on her bedroom door, the quick trip to the grocery store that Tess made because Florence had told her of something that she enjoyed eating, or the fact that Tess would sleep in the same room with her and comfort her with massages when she was restless. Florence was even invited to join you and your family at the dinner table. Not only were her basic needs met, but she was made to feel like a part of your own family.

Nancy N. and Helen J. (Antioch)
  18. You can never imagine how happy our family is that we found this place (The Residences – Antioch). I was very upset when the doctor said I could not bring Leroy home. I had had some experience with placing my mother before her death. Roy, Linda and I all agreed on this place almost from the time we entered and met you and we never regretted that decision. So thank you very much.

    Vi L. (Antioch)
  19. Thanks so much for the wonderful Thanksgiving Celebration. I had a great time and I know Mom did also. She actually remembers the party and smiled as we discussed the entertainment. Thanks also for the ongoing care, concern and respect that you show our mother.

    Diane H. (Rossmoor, Walnut Creek)
  20. My mother lived the last two and a half years of her life at Residences at Antioch. It was difficult for me to place her in a care home, but it was time. She adjusted pretty well, and pretty much I stopped worrying. She had her own private bedroom and bathroom, which she enjoyed. I spent a lot of time visiting Mom and always noticed how well kept the home was and also the residents. I ate many times with Mom. The food was always a balanced and yummy meal. Sometime I would play bingo with the ladies and I can tell you how rewarding that was. I would give them a prize when they would win. They just loved that. The caregivers were wonderful. They were like family to my mother and I. They would always make sure all the residents had their exercise daily.

    Betty S.    (Summerset IV, Brentwood)
  21. It had been a long road to walk caring for my mom as her health declined, but with the help of your wonderful and caring staff at the Residences at Antioch, My Mom lived out her days in a home where love and support were always there each and every day. I’m grateful to have had wonderful and loving parents. Both Mom and Dad are now at rest.

  22. Please accept my most sincere thank you. You were all such a huge blessing to my Aunt Dorothy and me. Her final days with us were spent surrounded by loving care and compassion. I truly enforced being in your home for the short time we knew each other. You will always have a place in my heart. While Dorothy is no longer with us to tell for herself. She would want you to know that she truly appreciated every one of you. She referred to you as her friends. I cannot express how much it meant to me and my family too. She was safe with your loving care. I am for a small token of her appreciation. Please divide it equally among all of you. Thank you and God bless. Love,

    Rene Shusta and family (Antioch)

  26. Thank you so much for having my mom in your beautiful care home. My mom always said she felt like she was at home with family. I felt the same way. Your staff are the best, always kind and loving. I love how you celebrated birthdays and the Christmas party every year. That was nice, especially for the families. My family and I will never forget what you did for me and us. We would still like to visit sometimes after the COVID-19 pandemic is over. Sincerely Yours,

    Deena and Family (Antioch)
  27. We are very thankful to have been led to Residence of Antioch and to all of you. We couldn’t ask for a better home care and love for my mom. She immediately felt comfortable when she arrived. We appreciate you welcoming her. She had been through so much and she needed love and care, thank you for talking to her, getting her to smile, giving her food and medicine, bathing and giving her dignity. The dementia disease has been especially hard on her and her family. She has battled and given her all everything she has. We pray for her and have peace knowing she will be with her heavenly father; she will no longer have any suffering.

  33. Our mother, Vivian Silveria lived at the Residence of Antioch for the last three and a half years of her life. She recently passed away at the age of 97. She suffered from advanced dementia and some cerebral hemorrhages. She could no longer speak or walk or care for herself in any way. The Board and Care facility where she previously lived could no longer care for her and we were so lucky when a Hospice worker referred us to Nes Uy. Our mother had lived in several Board and care facilities but none were as professional, competent and helpful as the Residence of Antioch. They are heads and shoulders above any other place we had encountered. The facility and mother were always kept immaculately clean. There was never the odor of urine anywhere. The staff there bathed her, changed her diapers, dressed her, fed her, monitored her medications and kept us informed of any of her needs. They never missed a beat. In a case like Mother’s where she needed to be lifted everywhere, it was important to us that there were three people on staff and at least one of them was a male who could do the heavy lifting. You don’t see that in most Board and Care facilities. In addition to their professionalism, they were also extremely kind to our mother and to us. They are friendly and upbeat and always willing to go the extra mile to help you out. We can’t recommend them highly enough and are indebted to them for the outstanding care they gave to our mother.

    Fran Silveira, Julie Linder (Antioch)
  34. I want to thank you for all you have done for my mom and my family over the past five years What you do is truly amazing and I will always be grateful. The dedicated care team was so responsive, caring and loving. They truly have a gift and a special way with their residents. I will always recommend your home to anyone who is looking for a place for their love ones. I have many wonderful memories that I will always treasure. You will always be family to me. With my deepest gratitude,

    Alison Mullaney (Oakley)
  35. My father-in-law, who is 92, recently was a resident at THE RESIDENCE AT ANTIOCH. When he arrived at THE RESIDENCES he was in a very bad shape. He stayed at THE RESIDENCES for one month and when he left to go back to his own home, he was in so much better condition than when he arrived there. The care he received there was wonderful! The food served was of good quality and prepared very well. He actually gained weight during his one month stay at THE RESIDENCES. He especially raves over the back massages he received there. He has been home now for over a month and he still continues to talk about how well he was treated and how much he enjoyed his stay at THE RESIDENCES. The owner and staff of THE RESIDENCES are wonderful, caring people and I would not hesitate to recommend the facility to anyone. Please do not hesitate to call or write to me for more information. Sincerely,

    Dave Gurman (Summerset IV, Brentwood)
  36. On behalf of the family of Florence Johnston, we would like to take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation for the superior care that she received while she lived at your residential care facility. From the very first time that we came to look at the home which was unannounced, we were extremely impressed with the facility. The home was immaculate. The bedrooms and bathrooms were tastefully decorated, roomy, and provided easy handicap access. The other residents were dressed, clean and appeared to be happy and quite comfortable. You and our staff were very willing to answer any questions that we had within a very few minutes of walking into the house, we knew that we had found the perfect place for Florence to live while she rehabilitated. A few examples of this were the “welcome home” balloons in her room, the home-made signs with her name on her bedroom door, the quick trip to the grocery store that you made because Florence had told of something that she enjoyed eating, or the fact that Tess would sleep in the same room with her and comfort her with massages when she was restless. Florence was even invited to join you and your family at the dinner table. Not only were her basic needs met, but she was made to feel like a part of your own family. Although the time Florence spent with you was short, we believe that she couldn’t have been in better or more caring hands. Her last weeks were spent in a clean, happy, comfortable, and loving environment. Everyone at your residence was so nice and more than willing to be helpful and honor our any request. Because of the excellent care that Florence received, we were able to relax and had much less stress and worry about her care. Once again, please accept our sincere thanks for taking such wonderful care of Florence. Sincerely,

Nancy Notthoff and Helen Johnston (Antioch)
  37. We are pleased to be writing this letter as a recommendation for the Residence of Antioch because of the great care our brother, Mike Ambrosini received while a resident of the house. Our brother became suddenly ill in November 2013. When he was being discharged from the hospital two weeks later, it was clear that the level of care he would need was more than we could provide in our home. The case manager at the hospital consulted with us on options for residential care. The first place we looked at was The Residences at Antioch. The house was very warm and inviting and the room Mike would be residing was large, clean, and comfortable. We also learned that the owner, Nes Uy, was a parishioner at our church, St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Antioch. The Parochial administrator of the Church, Father Robert Rein, highly regarded Nes and gave him a wonderful personal reference. We selected The Residences of Antioch for Mike and it was a very easy process to make the arrangements for him to be a part of the home. We also were working with Hospice of the East Bay, and the two places worked together to coordinate all that was needed to get Mike in the home the following day. We remained very happy with our selections and over the two months that Mike was in the house, we appreciated our choice more each day. What made the place most, was the wonderful staff that Nes employs. We can’t say enough about the great care Mike was given. The staff was immediately engaged in Mike’s care and did everything they could to make him comfortable and cared for. They truly and completely cared about him and his well-being. The staff was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. They talked to him, fed him, cleaned him, and cared for him. It felt like he and they had known each other for years. We visited Mike every day and we were always greeted warmly, and the staff made sure we were as comfortable as Mike. The care they showed made it possible for us to leave each day and feel and know Mike was going to be comfortable and well cared for. It is a very responsible, dedicated, and professional group. Although Mike’s stay was only two months, we know that during those two months he was in very capable hands and was kept as comfortable as he could be. He appreciated the staff as well and immediately grew close to them and looked to them for his needs. We are very happy to recommend The Residences at Antioch to anyone needing residential care for their loved ones. Sincerely,

    Carmen Ambrosini (Antioch) Libby Ambrosini

  39. It is nice to be home again. My wife, Terry still has a little leg problem, but she has to take pills which helps. As much as I enjoyed being home, I miss everyone at the Residences and all the special care I was given.. My daughter Barbara called meals on wheels. They deliver meals to each house Monday through Fridays for lunch and very reasonable prices. We had one today and it was very good. But truthfully, I like your meals and snacks a lot better.. I’m hoping to meet up with Nes one of these days soon. Love to all,

    Louis (Brentwood)

    Much Love,

  16. Dear Nes, Tess, Fely, Mary et al,

We want to say again how much we always appreciated the outstanding care you gave to our mother, Edith B..

  19. Thanks so much for the wonderful Thanksgiving Celebration. I had a great time and I know Mom did also. She actually remembers the party and smiled as we discussed the entertainment. Thanks also for the ongoing care, concern and respect that you show our mother.

    Love,

  23. You should know by now that you are very special people. The way you deal with them and their special needs and their eventual Deaths are heartening.

    With much thanks,

  24. Thank you and your staff at the Residences, Fely, Rowena, Gio, and other wonderful people who take care of my mother Irene, in her final years, days, and hours. Our family knows and appreciates all you did. Thank you for everything.

  27. Thank you for everything especially getting my brother a care home in Fairfield. He was happy and enjoyed the company of Rose’s caregivers. His death was sudden, I thought he was being better now, he is in peace now and no more pain. God bless you and you and our daughter for all your help. We will never forget you.

    Marlene
    With all our love,

  28. Somehow, just saying “Thank you” doesn’t seem like enough. But I hope you know how much your kindness has meant to us.

    Fondly,

  29. Somehow, just saying “Thank you” doesn’t seem like enough. But I hope you know how much your kindness has meant to us.

    Fondly,

  30. Thank you for trying so hard to make Butch comfortable in his room. He is very needling. We appreciate everything.

    Sincerely,

  34. We were especially impressed with the personal touches that made such a difference in her care.

    Sincerely,

    Sincerely,

  36. Thank you for how much you loved and took care of Nellie. We were very blessed to have her with you! We love you! Please tell Fely and those who worked so lovingly with my mom how much it meant to us. We will be forever grateful; may the Lord bless you all. Thank you for all your care and love expressed to Nellie and us. We can’t begin to tell you how much that meant to us! God Bless! We are praying for you all!

    Love,

  38. Thank you for such a lovely Christmas party. The choir and the string band were so beautiful. You went to a lot of work and it was very appreciated by all of us. Thank you too for the great care you provided to my grandmother.

Have a happy and healthy holiday,

  39. You can never imagine how happy our family is that we found this place. I was very upset when the doctors said I couldn’t bring Leroy home. I had some experience with placing my mother before her death. We had a very bad time finding a place. Roy, Linda and I agreed on this place almost from the time we entered and met you. When we left, we hadn’t reached Golf course road when Roy asked me what I thought, I said I liked this and never regretted the decisions thank you very much.

    Sincerely,

  40. We will always remember the loving care you gave our dad Albert. You were God send for us and we will never forget you.

  41. We are always grateful for the love and care you give to mom, each of you are appreciated.

    Blessings,
